Baby bees

Today, Jake checked in on the bees.

What you can see in the photo is a healthy frame. The biscuit-coloured section in the centre is capped brood—young bees developing and nearly ready to hatch. Surrounding this are larvae waiting to be capped, and around the top of the frame is fresh honey, stored as food for the colony.
