Vaccination time

During the winter months, we carry out essential Varroa control treatments within the hives.

Varroa mites pose one of the greatest threats to honeybee colonies, weakening adult bees, damaging developing brood, and transmitting harmful viruses. Winter is the most effective time to address this, as the colony is largely brood-free, allowing treatments to target the mites directly rather than those hidden within capped cells.

By carefully managing Varroa levels during this period, we reduce stress on the colony, improve overwinter survival, and ensure the bees emerge in spring healthy, resilient, and ready to thrive as the new season begins.
